The studio is built around one rule. Half the work is the frames left out. The published series is small because the unpublished one was larger.

Two practices share the same discipline. Editorial portraiture for brands and people who want a photograph that earns the wall. Synthography for the picture that cannot be shot, made prompt by prompt, finished by hand.

Both are the same craft in different rooms.

CONTENTS

What the studio does.

Three plates. Two practices, one set of standards. Each is scoped per brief and quoted on intent. No package tier, no monthly retainer for content.
PLATEA.01

Editorial Portraiture

Cinema for one frame.
REQUEST PLATE A.01 →

Cinematic studio and on-location shoots for brands, magazines, and the kind of subjects who do not photograph well under ordinary direction. The studio runs the picture. Casting input, lighting, post, print, delivery. You run the audience that sees it.

PLATEA.02

Synthography

The picture you cannot shoot.
REQUEST PLATE A.02 →

AI imagery built as a production, not a generation. Used where stock cannot reach and a shoot is impossible. Alternate worlds, hypothetical campaigns, retrofitted product imagery, weather that never happened. Finished to the same standard as a shoot. Tooling and prompts disclosed in full.

PLATEA.03

Direction

For a brand, not a campaign.
REQUEST PLATE A.03 →

Creative direction for editorial campaigns, brand identity rebuilds, and visual systems where photography and synthography work as one set. Designed for marketing leads and creative directors who need an outside eye that has shipped real work, not a deck.

THE STORY

Subjects who would not perform for the lens.

Shot over four months with people who agreed to sit only on the condition that they would not be made to smile. What came out was a register of attention. The frame did the work. The subject did not. The picture that stays is the one taken just before the shoulders settle.

THE STORY

Two cities, between eleven and three.

Worked between 11pm and 3am across Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. The studio mood is something a lighting kit cannot fake at any other hour. These are pictures of how the body sits when the day stops asking for anything.
CLOSING

Night was the studio. Everything else was lighting.

THE STORY

A long project in two passes.

First pass: subjects pause between actions. The kettle about to whistle. The door half open. Second pass: the same subjects, the same days, after something has happened we did not photograph. The pairing is the work.
CLOSING

Half the work is the pairs I left out.

AI IMAGE WORK, RUN AS A SHOOT

Made prompt by prompt. Finished by hand.

Every series is presented the same way a shoot would be. World sheet, process, specs, tooling, runtime. What you see is what you would be quoted for.

The Atelier of Salt

A perfume house photographed for a campaign that does not exist.

B.01 · OPENING PLATESYNTHOGRAPHY
THE STORY

Built as a private exercise. Invent a perfume house with three flagship scents, shoot the campaign for one of them, and treat AI the way a stylist treats a wardrobe trunk. What came out was an editorial portrait series of a couturier who never wore the perfume because the perfume never existed.

CREATION PROCESS · 6 STEPS

How the picture was made.

01
Mood and refusal

Six reference panels. Three rejected for being too period-correct. Evoke 1952, do not reconstruct it.

02
Character generation

Eight portrait variants. Two carried into the series. The other six generated to fail. The failures shaped the keepers.

03
Environment

Three room studies. Walls, windows, props generated separately, then composited. Editorial discipline, not magic.

04
Camera grammar

Lens and aperture written into every prompt. ƒ2.8, 80mm, slight tilt. The image built around camera language.

05
Post and finish

Lightroom on every frame. Curves, grain plate, print-grade upscale. The photograph finishes in hand, not in tool.

06
Cut

From 38 generated frames, 7 published. Five rejected for being too easy. Two held for a future series.

A character study built against the tooling, not with it.

B.02 · OPENING PLATESYNTHOGRAPHY
THE STORY

Commercial AI imagery flattens into magazine-grade lighting by default. This series argues against that default. A single character, four scenes, all at the end of something. A cigarette. A fight. A long shift. A sentence.

METHOD · FOUR PRINCIPLES

How the studio works.

I

The frame is the contract

The picture is the answer to a brief, not a piece of self-expression. If the brief is wrong, that conversation happens first. The shoot starts when the disagreement ends.

II

Refusal is part of the work

Half of every series is the frames I do not show. Editing is the photograph. A small set published is a stronger statement than a large set unfiltered.

III

AI is a chemistry, not a shortcut

Synthography runs on the same discipline as a shoot. Prompted, generated, refused, refined, finished. The picture stops at the file. The photograph is finished by hand.

IV

The work travels light

No crew of five for a portrait. No press kit for a one-page case. The studio runs lean because the picture deserves more attention than the production around it.
